Poet and activist Amiri Baraka appeared at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, lecturing on activism in the 1960s. Along the way, he spoke truth to power about Bush, American imperialism, systemic racism in the United States and the continued need for change and the people who will work for it. Baraka is introduced by Creighton Professor Ngwarsungu Chiwengo, who is quickly introduced by Ricardo Ariza, Creighton's director of Multicultural Affairs.
We sang this in madrigals when I was in high school. I love it so much I did a homebrew version. Not great (and not complete--there's 6 more verses or something like that), but I had fun doing it. Merry Christmas.
